absolutely horrible trade by edmonton a few years ago, and I'm pretty sure NJ isn't dumb enough to do the same thing.
That said, he'll be a FA the year after so he's little more than a rental to whoever trades for him. Which is why I don't see anyone doing it. He's going to have a great season next year though, playing for that contract. He's gonna be a guy people chase in the offseason.

I think you are making a lot of assumptions that 1) Taylor Hall won't sign an extension this summer 2) The devils will have to accept less value than Hall is worth because he is a pending free agent. Perhaps if you replace the 2nd round pick with two first round picks you might be in the ballpark, and that's if the Devils need to trade him at the deadline.

Flames were his favourite team growing up, and its likely he wants to play here. So if he does notify devils and doesn’t pull a John Tavares move, I’m sure devils will try to get as much from him.
