Description
Yes, it's two separate trades with the Islanders. The first deal comes at the draft, which is when the Preds can ideally deal Subban. The second deal comes later in the offseason, as the Isles have already lost Nelson and Tavares to FA in the last two years and are looking for a replacement center in their top six. They buy low and take a chance with Turris, hoping that Trotz can help turn him into a Lars Eller on steroids type of player.

With all this money that the Preds now have, they decide to make moves to bring in more raw skill to their lineup. Duchene is the big name, as he instantly becomes their #1 center. Nyquist comes into a room full of Swedes and fits in beautifully in their top six. This is planning for them to let Craig Smith go after this season, as they'll need the money for Josi and Granlund. These changes quickly make their forward group much more skilled and their power play units are respectable.

Lovejoy is signed to anchor the third pairing. They are taking a chance on Fabbro being ready for top four minutes, which is why adding a guy like Lovejoy makes sense, as he can play a few more minutes on the third pair and penalty kill to help ease Fabbro into being a full-time NHLer

Oliver Wahlstrom is another dynamic talent that can be inserted into lineup as soon as the middle of this season. This team is able to finally add that skill that is needed throughout their lineup, and they're able to get back to being a West powerhouse. A full, healthy season from Ellis will also provide the team with a huge boost both offensively and defensively. They also have plenty of money to make a move or two at the deadline if they feel they need to add something else. If Fabbro isn't quite ready for those minutes, they can find a #4 RHD at the deadline and they'll have the money to do so.

I like the Duchene and Nyquist prices.

Preds should at least get Ho-Sang and a 1st for Subban. Preds are in a contention window. Only getting Wahlstrom who's at least another year away and anything less than a 1st would be a huge loss for NSH.

If I'm the Preds, I'd rather have Wahlstrom and a 2nd than JHS and a first. Ho-Sang has failed to stick and looks like he'll have a very limited future. The first will be 24 and the likelihood of that player becoming a high impact NHLer is less than 50%. I'd rather take Wahlstrom, who looks like he has 35-40 goal potential, and a second rounder, where the guy they might want in the first could still be there. I'd rather have the highest quality piece, and that's Wahlstrom.
