Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 17, 2019
Published: May 17, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Regardless of who you cheer for, leaf players actually have value even if the team is up against the cap, Marleau won't be traded,Doubt they move NZ, RHD are over priced in trade market so NZ has value. Marner will not get 10 per, no team out there would pay it niether will the Leafs. Johansson will barely get 2 per and bet on himself and he a UFA in 2 seasons. Kappy is wanted by pretty much every team. And Kadri is a 2 C on 28 out of 31 teams and a modest cap hit so he holds the most value.

Dermott is better than Miller, or at least more valuable. He's one more at his age than Miller did and Miller was a healthy scratch. This is just silly.

I agree with most of what you said but Kadri is not a 2C on all but 3 teams, not even close.

Idiotic and unrealistic to suggest all 3 of those UFA's sign for less than one million over multiple years hahahaha. And yes, Marner is getting 10 million plus. Face it already

I don’t think people hate the team per say. It’s the percentage of cocky arrogant fans that are hated. This we are better than all the rest attitude from a fan base who’s team has not won anything in quite a long time

Edmonton, Pittsburgh, Washington, Tampa Bay, Boston, San Jose, Philadelphia, Los Angeles. Thats just off the top of my head of teams with at least two centers better than Kadri.

Kadri is a good middle six center but there are plenty of teams that he isnt one or two.

You could probably getter more for Kadri then that.
Marner is likely gonna get a bit more then $10M, gonna be interesting to see how the Leafs make it all work.

Realistically I would say 10-15 teams. Carolina, Buffalo, Arizona, Nashville, Anaheim, Dallas, Rangers, Winnipeg (assuming Hayes walks), Chicago, Ottawa and Calgary just off the top of my head.

I think people confuse being in up against the cap with "Oh no, now they're going to be screwed and not be cap compliant!". When has it ever been the case? Has a team ever got to Oct 1st and not been able to be cap complaint? Not that I know of.

Every team has plenty of options to get themselves out of any cap pickle they are in. Some just have better options than others. Some people can't discern between the two so they generalize all teams near the cap are in "cap hell" when really they aren't. Frankly I don;t think any team is really in cap hell. Unless every player on your team has a NMC, all it takes is one trade and a problem could be solved.

As much as I dislike Calgary there is an argument to be had that Backlund is better than Kadri.

He is. But his contract isn't. When cap space counts, and it does for winners, value plays a big role. Let's call them roughly even....and I'm not a Kadri fan.
Half the league would line up for a centre at 4.5M, with 3 years left, that has put up multiple 30 goal seasons.

The original poster said that Kadri would be a 2C on 28 of the 31 teams, which leaves 3 teams that he wouldn't be according to him. I think that the number would be closer to maybe 15 teams that Kadri would be the 2C.

For sure, that one is a toss up but backlund is declining, personally I think lindholm will occupy that pot soon.
