I don't know that saving $1.25M is much cap relief for the Lightning. I think that if they trade Miller, it will be for draft picks. In fact, now that they have their first-rounder back, their first call is probably going to be to Colorado for that #16.

Buddy, you can bring back Haydn Fleury whos younger and better than Jordie Benn, that’s a waste of a mil, as for the trade, you want to take on a Tampa cap dump for Faulk and 2 late round picks? Miller is a good player, but he isn’t worth his contract, this makes no sense for Carolina. Miller isn’t an improvement on Staal, and with necas on his way, there’s no need for another C

I couldn’t disagree more. Our center depth is atrocious and hurt us in the postseason. Miller can play all three forward positions, is Nino’s size and can play with an edge. Fleury is still in the system but I’m not sold on what to do with him quite yet. I haven’t given up on him but Bean May be a better special teams answer. IMO option, this team needs a crease clearing DMan. Maybe not for 82 games a year but one that can be deployed when the refs swallow their whistles. BTw, did you read the explanation?

It’s a fair point and I explored other options like including Callahan & Darling in the trade. TBL could either buy him out or bury him in the AHL. That would give them more space.
