Don't hate it but doubtful Montreal accepts. Considering the hype around Suzuki and Montreal's commitment to getting younger and to continue build up their prospect pool the Habs won't be giving up Suzuki unless a team highly overpays

What if in this trade, the Habs replace Suzuki with their 1st rounder this year? Isles could draft Newhook with that pick. Habs get to keep Suzuki, add a hometown boy and the Top 4 LD they need, Isles still get their Center prospect.

Considering that in terms of value Leddy is just a left-handed Jeff Petry, and no way I would trade Suzuki for Petry, let alone Suzuki and Shaw. And Beauvillie, would be 4th or 5th among MTL's left wingers if he manages to regain his form (his career totals put him at about a 30-35 pts/season player), behind Drouin, Tatar, Domi if he gets shifted back to wing, and probably Byron, possible Lehkonen, not exactly adding much value even if he is a hometown guy.

I wouldn't do it. Even if maybe that would yield a better team than the latter, I'm genuinely excited to see what a Habs farm system of quality talent will look like. Habs have been historically a team to trade for other teams studs. I want the Habs to develop their own for once.

Isles really need Center Prospects the most, but LD prospects that will actually crack the top 4 are another need of ours. I don’t know if I’d do that deal, I think it’s a big drop in value from Suzuki or a 15th OA, and Shaw would, in my opinion, be a risky add. Shaw has been inconsistent over his tenure with MTL. But it addresses our needs, I’ll give you that.
