I'm not so sure the question should be if the Avs would take that. That seems like quite the overpayment from Toronto. Barrie and Kadri are pretty close in value, Toronto would need to add a bit, the difference in value isn't Dermott (top 4 d-man), Kapanen (top 9 forward), a possible 1st and 3rd round picks, and Jost doesn't make up much value. Kapanen or Dermott are worth more than Jost alone

No....no interest in kadri. Jost is off limits and Barrie would
Fetch more than Kap.

It’s just a bunch of stuff and doesn’t fill any avs long term needs. If Leafs and Avs were to come together for a Barrie trade, Nylander is part of the deal, no the Kapanen and Kadri of the world

Has Jost looked any better this year? I thought he looked okay in the playoffs but he seems to be a bit of a disappointment so far i would say. Barrie is a great defensmen, but with 1 year left on his contract and a 28, this is an overpayment by the leafs in my opinion. With Makar and Girard already poised to be the young foundation for you guys i would think you would jump at the chance to turn 1 year of Barrie before he needs a huge raise at 30 years old for another young promising defensemen like Dermott along with two pieces to fill out the depth you guys didnt seem to have this year with a young core aged Kapanen and Kadri who is signed at a very reasonable contract for another 3 years until the end of his prime, at which point you can let him walk. Not even bringing the 3rd into account and the potential upgrade to a 1st i think this deal heavily favours the avs.

Jost is good, he was put in the bottom 6 role for the majority of the year and he works his tail off, the way he think the game, and his process, there is a reason why he started to get promoted up the depth chart. Nothing is given on the Avs. When he has Landeskog as a winger, they were dangerous. Hard to produce when Andrighetto and Gabe Bourque are your line mates. Hes prime for an upgraded 2C/3C role all next year.

Barrie is by far the best player of any of the guys mentioned. Its not an offer payment when Barrie is one of the top offensive producing Dmen in the league, being a Righty, and plays pretty respectable defence. Kadri/Kapanen dont move the needle for a player fo Barries value

I agree that Barrie is the best player involved, but when you take into consideration age and contract length along with the depth or lack thereof of the Avalanche not to mention Dermott who you havent really brought up, and the fact that they have the up and coming Makar to take over anchoring the right side of there defense, i think the avs would do this in a second.

Nah...Kadri has declined production over the last 2 season despite getting more and more Ozone starts, Kap is 40 point 2nd line Winger, and Dermott is just another 2nd pairing if he hits his potential who would have to fight for a spot behind Timmins Melcohe in the system while Makar, EJ, Cole, Zads, and Girard lock up 5 out of the 6 spots.

Sorry but its not a deal they would do in a second. If they move Barrie they are getting Nylander back plain and simple. When you add Jost on top of all this. Its actually a pretty bad deal for the Avs considering what the leafs are offering...its nothing special and easily can be picked up in UFA . My point is Barrie is on another level compared to what the leafs are giving up so why would the Avs settle for a collection of lesser parts?

When you mention Nylander, are you talking a 1 for 1 type of deal?

yup, 1 for 1. Its been the same message with Barrie, if teams want him its a hockey deal, not futures or parts deal.

If you break it down...Jost for Kap and Barrie for Kadri Dermott. Avs easily pass on that

We are just on different waive lenghs i guess. If you had a gun to my head and said we had to make a trade for barrie and it was either the deal proposed in this thread or nylander for Barrie straight up i wouldn't think twice about sending nylander away instead of Kadri, kap, dermott and the picks. Nice hypothetical chat anyway.

Coga and I don't often disagree but I'm not sure I'd want Nylander even 1 for 1, I just don't think he's 'all that'. There's certainly other players I'd want to target in a Barrie trade ahead of him.
