First-Round Pick Trade with Toronto

Created by: OldNYIfan
Team: 2019-20 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: May 20, 2019
Published: May 20, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm trying out some ideas I've been discussing with a highly-respected fellow Toronto colleague.

Is it worth it to buy Eriksson out?

I'm so used to trying to shoe-horn cap hits into the Toronto and Las Vegas rosters that I probably underpaid all the free-agent signings, but who cares with almost $15M in cap overhead?

way to tilted for the Canucks. even if its a late 2020 pick its gonna as good if not better than the nr10 this year, sure they need to shred cap but giving Kadri and brown also is just a good laugh

I'm not sure I understand your criticism. Are you saying that it is too far over towards the Canucks?

Let me try to explain :

TML are set for next five years

O : Tavares, Matthews, Nylander, Marner, hopefully both Johnsson and Kapanen bridged after Kadri traded. So thats three lines filed with above average players ( again Kapanen and Johnsson still to prove thats true )....average age 23,3
D : Rielly, Dermott, incoming for third Pair in season 2020/2021 are Sandin and Liljegren.....also Zaitsev as middle pair defenceman, average age 21,5 without Zaitsev

with the above said, TML dont need 2019 1st round and now the shocker, they dont even need 2020 1st round, cause if 2021 1st round is the earliest great prospect to draft, he will have three years to make it to team, 2022 1st will have two years to fill what will be depleted after "next five years" period etcetc

If we focus on picks alone....Brown can bring you 4th 2019, lets undervalue Kadri and say he can bring you 2 x 2nd respectivelly ( lets say from the team that will draft from 31-40 ), with those three you can already make it into late first round and if lucky another Sandin can be drafted.

For the Kadri trade alone, heres one from PHI fan that i would jump right on :

or the one from JamiePo, tho i would insert Kadri instead Kapanen :

Well, the first guy does usually know what he's talking about, I'll give you that.

And yes, this post is in direct response to @Jamiepo's construction.

Told ya lol.

Personally I think Kadri and kapanen hold close to the same trade value.

Kadri brown or kapanen and brown should be able to pull in a 8-15 OA puck by themselves. I wouldn’t say to a rebuilding team but a team that is either done (like Edmonton should be) or a team in the middle. A team on full rebuild will want to keep the pick

Have to agree with laudan that our 2020 first is more important to us.

Vancouver doesn’t need Fleury already have Edler, Hughes, Hutton, Juolevi on the left side. Gaudette is not going anywhere he is being groomed to be the third line center.

The right way to "groom" a guy to play a position is put him there and move everyone other than Horvat and Pettersson out of his way. Right now, he's sixth on the depth chart. MacAdam seems to be a much better prospect.
