Guys with 0 NHL games dont usually get signed for a lot of money. Gusev also seems to be very loyal to VGK and he wants to play there so he's propably willing to help with their cap situation.

Guys with 0 NHL games don't tend to be the consensus best player outside the NHL either. Gusev is looking at $5M per IMO

What in the world are those Smith and Haula trades? You could get far better value than that for a pair of top 6 forwards.

Nope, other teams are going to be aware of their cap problems and because of that they are not going to pay the full value of the players. Also Haula missed basically the entire season and that also decreases his value significantly.

He'll ask for a Dadonov-esque deal. 4M AAV x 3 years int's what he'll get IMO

Him and Radulov had previous NHL experience prior to their 4mil contracts straight out of KHL so I still think that Gusev having zero NHL experience has a big effect on his contract.

Meh, Vegas also have to keep in mind that Gusev could easily hold out like Nylander did if unhappy with what he gets, and holding out all year for him wondn't be troublesome. He just heads back home for another season and gets back next season with a good UFA contract

You are talking about a guy coming out of the KHL where he has posted 215 points in 173 games over the last 3 seasons. A guy who was making a lot more than $2M before he signed that 1 year ELC. The fact he has played 0 NHL games doesn't drop his value to a $2M contract no matter how much you hope it will. Dude is gonna get paid and it'll be closer to $5M.
