Shattenkirk Miller and Callahan in Ristolainen out

Created by: gretzkyghosts
Team: 2019-20 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 21, 2019
Published: May 21, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Shattenkirk is more or less equal to Ristolainen
Miller is a bit upgrade at #2 center
Buffalo adds 2 firsts and a second.
The team is slightly improved but adds 3 good picks for future improvement. IMO the rebuild stated in 2017. We wasted 2 years of Eichel, and 1 year of Reinhart, I do nit want to rush the rebuild, I want to be more methodical.
If Betterall could sign one all of the following:
Zach Aston-Reese PIT
Teddy Blueger PIT
Brendan Lemieux WIN/NYR
Then I could see not signing Larsson or Girgensons and sending Wilson to the press box.

NYR will not do that, you said yourself Shattenkrik is a comparable to Risto, they're not gonna send a 2nd to get rid of him, even if he's going very cheap. and they 100% match the lemiuex offer sheet

If it's Miller + 2 1st rounder, part of Ristolainen salary would have to be retained. Otherwise it's an overpay IMO

Buffalo has a better chance at a cup than the Rangers do.

Well I guess you are correct, but let's presume he sees Buffalo getting to the playoffs before the Rangers, he may have a change of heart.

You may be correct, but maybe not for that term. Maybe Buffalo adds another year to each one. BTW I am just dreaming here. let me live my fantasy, LOL.

Opps, I said that for the ears of Buffalo fans, you were not suppose to read that. LOL. Kevin does have a higher cap hit, I could imagine the Rangers trading him if Gorton thought he could sign a better UFA at the same salary.

OK, break it down this way, Miller (equal to about 2 seconds) and Callahan (I have seen many posts where he and a first is traded for future considerations) is about equal to STL 2020 second and the Tampa first round picks are nearly second round picks, so Ristolainen for 2 very early second round picks.

Please see the comment below. The 2 firsts are equal to really early seconds (only five sooner than OTT 2nd round pick in 2019), maybe Buffalo needs to add, but not much. So let's presume a trade could be made with Tampa, maybe not enough for Kevin, maybe add Nelson and a fifth or even a fourth. BTW what do you think of the team if all of the moves could be made?

That team has a better chance to win the first overall pick than making the playoffs.

Losing Ristolainen makes the defense better...

LMAO. Ristolainen is a defensive liability, he just makes offense better. Terrible on Defense.

They have Dahlin ready to take over.

You're not - 42, I know not the best stat, by accident...

Miller >>> Sobotka
Aston-Reese >> Wilson
Lemieux = Girgensons
Blueger => Larsson
Dahlin 19-20 > Dahlin 18-19
Krueger > Housley
Shattenkirk <= Ristlolainen
So why will this team do worse than last year?

That's a lot of assumptions.

Miller and Callahan have Sabres on their trade lists??

Callahan waives to sit in the pressbox in Buffalo?? Miller waives from the best team to one that picks in the top 8 every year??

None of the rfa's are matched??

Not sure if many dman are <= Ristolainen. I'll give you that one. And, if so, why doesn't the Rangers trade Shattenkirk, retain salary to make contracts even, to TB for Callahan, Miller, 2sts and whatever???

Thanks for the reply.
I gave you comparisons among the players on this team verses players they would replace.
So you said the team I posted would finish last, your reply is that the team will not be built and only comment about one of the comparisons.
You still have not provided evidence that THIS team would finish last in the NHL.
Very difficult to carry on a conversation when I answered your comment then you decide to carry on a totally different discussion.

Prove it will finish in the playoffs.

You have not proved that it will be in a race to last place, I do not need to prove it will be a playoff team because I never maintained it was a playoff team, only that it would be better than last year and not a bottom feeder as this year.
Every time you comment you obfuscate and avoid carrying on a civil conversation by ignoring, my comments and proceed in a tangential direction.
