This would be a crazy acquisition. I'd be interested to see if that would pan out and turn Anaheim around.

My understanding is that the Nucks have been talking about extending Markstrom. I get that they have Demko and then DiPietro coming, but neither of those guys is ready for a full time gig, and there's no reason to rush either one of them.

It would definitely be nice to get a guy that can play 25-30 games though. Miller has been good, and I'm betting that they'll sign him again, but Gibby/Markstrom > Gibby/Miller.

As much as I'd love to see EK in a Ducks sweater, I think I would rather see them try to pick up Myers for $6-6.5 than EK for $11. Just seems like a dangerous game to play, especially with the current long term deals given to players coming into their 30's on this squad.

That's a safer move...this thread just had me think of the Nierdermayer signing that lead them to the cup. With Getzlaf and Perry off the books in 2 years and no real young stud that has proven to require a big contract after their entry level, this has potential to be a great signing for one of the best D in the league (when healthy...that's the risk here).

He'd look so good in that black and teal Heart Eyes

A healthy Ducks team with an upgrade to fill that hole is a dangerous team!

IMO Vancouver would rather draft a young player than sign a goalie who will not be there in the future. Plus Vancouver is still in rebuilding mode so i don’t see why they would think about really resigning Markstrom. They could find a good goalie in the market to replace Markstrom (Talbot is the guy in my mind) Ducks is doing that trade to remove Patrick Eaves from the cap

trading a first and a 6th for a backup goalie??? Patrick Eaves' contract isn't that desperate to move, it's one season lol, we don't have cap problems to warrant this move.

I don't disagree with you regarding the logic behind the Nucks resigning Markstrom.

I would disagree with giving up a first round pick to somehow make it happen. Especially if the cost to buy out Eaves only counts for a mil against the cap. Talbot in Anaheim might be a fit, plus Miller would probably re-sign cheaply, but trading a 1st rounder for a backup goalie, especially one who will only play 20-30 games (or less if Gibby stays healthy), is a huge price to pay.
