Description

If Tampa misses out on Karlsson, does Trouba become a target?

I haven't seen anyone do this yet, and yes, Tampa would obviously have to move salary around to accommodate Trouba which is why I included Callahan.

With signing Laine to a bridge deal, Winnipeg can handle 1 year of Callahan, and he could be very good for the locker room.

He will also be going to a contending team in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg gets a solid RHD who reminds me of Trouba, and they get back into the 1st round which is key.

I think Cernak and a 1st gets ya Trouba. Tampa would have to add if Cally is going the other way.

Although I think a lot Trouba trades are heavily in favour of the Jets (not this one), I don't think the Jets do this trade. Better to keep Trouba for Cup run next season...even if he is your "own rental"

Yeah, even as a Jets fan I think that most trades have been favouring Winnipeg. No matter what happens, I am very curious as to how Winnipeg's off season will unfold. I am actually not against that idea, but it's just hard to see Winnipeg getting nothing in return for a top pairing D man.

Good teams on a Cup run loose their UFAs every year, Good teams even trade for upcoming UFAs to make their teams even stronger for a Cup run. This site seems somewhat obsessed with trading UFAs "before they walk", especially Trouba. The other problem with trading Trouba, is only Cup contenders would want to give something for rental Trouba and they probably have cap issues too just like the Jets. So the Jets trade market for Trouba might few teams.

What on earth would make you think they're not contenders next year?
