Need to know the reasons these don't make sense if you think they don't guys!

Why would the habs go for a trade up? 9th pick will be good enough of a player, most likely as good as 4th pick. Beaulieu is cheap and reliable, why would you trade him? Also, I don't believe Yakupov is the type of the player that helps to win a championship.

This is the way i see it. Beaulieu hasn't shown enough for em to believe that he will be what many of us here hope he can be. In that trade, everyone looks at Bickell coming our way and thinks "for Beaulieu" but in reality this is basically Beaulieu and the 2nd for Teravainen, TVR and McNeill. Value judging these players honestly, MTL is stealing from Chi so adding a cap dump that MTL can simply buy out for small 1M cap penalty is totally worth it.

TVR and Beaulieu are basically the same players. The value is pretty much there equally but a 2nd rounder for Teuvo and McNeill is highway robbery.

I agree with you about the 9th pick though. I'm perfectly happy choosing 9th. The trades i mentioned were not so much because i want them to happen. More to see if the value is enough for the other teams to accept it.

Yakupov is a cheap, one year contract winger, so this trade seems to be ok. The Hawks would be very happy with this Bickell trade, so they will overpay. But I don´t unterstand the Wideman deal. What is your intention for the 2017/18 season? Resign Wideman or free a lot of cap space? And I´am not sure that the 4th over all pick is worth all these trades.

Right-o for the Yakupov scenario. I'm gambling that MTL with the Therrien's stern tutelage, Pacioretty's leadership and Galchenyuk's friendship will help put him on the right track. Even if it doesn't work out, have we really lost all that much? If he just becomes a 20G scorer we've already won and that is not a far fetched idea for a guy like Yak. If Kessel can pretty much turn it around, I don't see why Yakuov, who is younger and cheaper can't.

If the Hawks are willing, realistically, Montreal better be all over that.

Regarding Wideman, no chance at resigning him unless its very cap friendly. The idea behind this was to find a way to move up in the draft without giving up much in term of valuable assets. CGY dumps 5.25M in cap space, they get 2 young cheap prospects while moving down only 3 spots and MTL moves up to get the player they probably want the most in Dubois (outside the top 3). They also get a serviceable dman to help limit Markov's minutes. He's only got 1 year left so we're not mortgaging future cap space really. Next year, we spend our extra cap space to target true LH top 4 dmen to play with Subban and Petry (if Markov retires).

Depends on the money. Markov has shown this year that age is starting to catch up with him. With that said, he's still pretty good. Just not top pairing with Subban good. sign him next year for 2-3M on a 1 year contract and play him as a 4-6 dman and it would be totally worth it. Even just for the leadership. He's respected in that dressing room.

This trade is a total ripoff of a couple other notable Hawks fans proposal and they were ok with it. What makes it seem not a good idea in your mind?

I think he's done with contracts and money. He's made his money already. Montreal has been his home for a long time now. He's rooted here. Montreal showed him great respect in signing him long term when he had two very bad knee surgeries and the hockey world doubted if he could come back to 100%, I think for him its either MTL of KHL to live out his hockey days.

Yakupov hasn't proved he can score like Kessel (why did TOR fans wanted him out anyway?), he's a possession anchor and he's kinda got an attitude problem; not so sure anyone can do something about it. IMO, the Habs would be better served by adding a possession-driving player that can play a solid all-around game.
