Cal Foote Trade

Created by: AudioCats
Team: 2019-20 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: May 22, 2019

Description
Sabres are definitely still going to be growing next year, and I think we could find a perfect partner for Dahlin in the form of Foote. He's been excellent in the AHL, but TBL needs cap relief that we can afford.

I'd be willing to even it out more with taking on someone like Killorn for a third.

Trades
1.
BUF
  1. Callahan, Ryan
  2. Foote, Cal
Additional Details:
A set top-4 for TBL means they can lose Foote in order to buy some cap relief and some decent compensation. Nelson can more than hold down the 3rd pairing Foote was expected to take.
TBL
  1. Nelson, Casey
  2. 2019 1st round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
I think Foote is better than anyone we could add with the late first.

Cal Foote is one of my favorite D prospects and I think would be the perfect Dahlin D partner for years to come, however I think you have to wow Tampa alittle more to get this deal done.

Trade would prob go through. No clue what caseys contract is but as long as it’s under 1.5 mill I think they’d take it they need cap relief.

    Tampa says no.
Foote is needed by Tampa in the future and maybe this season already. The prospect that will go with Callahan (even tho I think it will be a 2nd rounder pick) will be a Forward.

He's at 800k. His play and underlying stats are good but he hasn't been playing in the NHL long enough to command much when he extends.

Then I think the trade is fair a first round pick and defencemen that can play and cheap for 6 mill in cap space and a good prospect.

Basically maybe it's a fair deal and I like Foote, but not sure Tampa would want to just give it away, maybe if the deal was around Risto then Yes they would have Cernak and Risto in the top 4, plus Rutta and Nelson are fighting among themselves for the last position.

pretty fair but idk if that gets it done maybe add another mid to late pick but overall like the idea...though id much rather sign stralman and have him play with Dahlin for a 1-3 years...great stay at home d man to let dahlin blossom....idk if i want a rookie playing on the top pair with Dahlin next season

Perhaps author wanted to get a guy who plays a good physical game, I do not know, we really have few such players in the team.

Pretty much, yeah. I think Sheary and Erod are candidates at 3LW. ERod offers more imo, and therefore I'd like to upgrade our 4th line a bit, instead of sticking Sheary on the fourth line and having his value drop. There's not a whole lot besides picks that Sheary can command on his own. Khaira is a more physical player than Scott Wilson or Girgs and has some decent offensive upside still left in him. Between him and Okposo I think it'll provide a bit more scoring than we got last year.
