Selling low on Sekera
Selling high on Benning
8th overall should be enough for Barrie
Jone and Bouchard both belong in the AHL to start the season

Detroit says no unless you throw a 3rd round pick in for it and take back some career ahler, we aren't trading picks for this and not taking him on unless you throw us something useful.

You think a 5th is selling high on Benning? 3rd pairing UFAs have been getting 3rd round picks lately Petrovic, Davidson, Holden, Kempny, Emelin, and TVR+7th got a 2nd rounder Benning easily on par or better then all these guys.

Jones has 135 pro games played between AHL and NHL now nothing says he has to start in AHL now if the Oilers can move Russell or Sekera

LOL people have zero sense of value on this site. You want the Oilers to pay DET a 3rd round pick so you guys can have a perfectly capable 3rd pairing RFA dman?

I think you've confused Brandon Manning with Matthew Benning.

Generally accepted wisdom (at least among Toronto ACGM's) is that Benning is worth Connor Brown or a third-round pick. Have a cruise through recent Toronto team posts.

You mean like Haydn Fleury (7th) or Nick Ritchie (10th)? Or William Nylander (8th, and much better than the other two, but who got too big a head and held out a year and set back his career at least one season)?

There is a value factor in proven player vs. high-overall draft pick.

Matthew Benning is a perfectly capable 3rd pairing defenseman and in my opinion would be an excellent player to have down there to even possibly be a fringe Top 4 D-man if Mike Green keeps getting injured. Your treating Matt Benning like he's dead cap.

I'd be happy to see Colorado take that but Sakic has said Barrie has to be a hockey trade. He's looking for a bona fide Top 6 forward one for one I think.

Yeah that doesn’t make sense. I think it’s more Benning isn’t a good fit in Detroit. We already have a log jam at D right now and Benning doesn’t add anything we don’t already have

I can kinda agree with a logjam its only a 1 season logjam after Green and Daley contracts are up will just have Bowey and Hronek on right side (likely why Trouba/Myers seem like such a good fit for the Wings) Only issue I see is health concerns I think like 4 dmen missed ~40 games last year so maybe they need a short term option
