I think your description is correct - he’s untouchable. It’s so hard to come by a #1 defenseman. The return is underwhelming. A middle six forward, a very good prospect (but not an NHL player yet), and a couple of picks. Just not worth it for a franchise player

No trade Chabot

I don't think the return matters. There would be no reason for the worst owner in hockey to trade away a young star on his first contract. He'll bridge him for 3 more years at $4M and then trade him to San Jose. There's a pattern here.

Chabot going to be in Norris conversation very soon. This is horrid for Ottawa.

when Chabot has another year like he did this last year or better, there will not be a bridge deal and they will trade Chabot just like they have traded EVERY player who asked for more than 5m per year in the last 5 years.

MTL needs to relax, they have Mete who is looking better and better every year and they can proly get a decent 3-4 LD for much less.
