Pump the brakes. There is dialogue and those are some pieces surrounding it. This trade is nowhere near official. Misleading title.

I still think Minnesota would have to add a pick or decent prospect

Sure, this area of the website is meant for quarterbacking your favorite team. But God forbid people actually share accurate news.

If this ends up actually happening it's in an absolute fleece for PIT.

This moronic trade has idiot Wild owner, Craig Leipold written all over it! Short-sighted and impatient as always...

Yeah. You can bury Rask on the depth chart.

Which is one reason it probably is happening... the other reason I listed above.

Sounds like the Wild's organizations biggest issue is Craig Leipold. Kessel/Johnson is not getting younger and faster and building a future.

It's just such an odd trade to me. There will clearly have to be more pieces or cap retention somehow. As many have already mentioned...this doesn't solve MIN's age issue. This also doesn't solve PIT's cap issues. Rask/Zucker are $9.5M and Kessel/Johnson are $10M. so...$500k??? Maybe MIN eats cap and PIT sends a guy like Jarry? I'm just guessing, but it's at least some excitement in May!

MIN might be able to sell more Kessel jerseys... Forgot he was a Madison WI native.

Isn't there an unofficial moratorium on trades right before / during the Stanley Cup finals?

Jack Johnson's contract is the equivalent of that.

Phil would have to waive his NTC - Minnesota not one of the teams on Phil's "allowable" list. Per Friedman

Apparently (if I'm reading this correctly) the deal is done (and has been for days) pending Kessel waiving his L-NTC

Of course, Kessel is being stubborn.

There has to be at least one high pick or legit prospect coming back to Pitt. Deal makes no sense otherwise. One of Donato, Kunin, Greenway, Erickson Ek or a 1st has gotta be going back. I'd guess Kunin out of that group of prospects.
