Articles by two different reporters in The Athletic report that Minnesota and Pittsburgh are considering a Jason Zucker and Victor Rask for Phil Kessel and Jack Johnson trade. They further report that the hold-up may be Kessel's NTC. What's everyone's reaction to this rumor?

Some more info:

Personally, I think both teams lose here. Wild need a rebuild and even though he's a great player, adding a Kessel isn't going to magically turn us into a cup contender. Pittsburgh is better off keeping Kessel over getting Zucker IMO.

Kessel's value is overrated IMO.

He isn't going to get more than he did 4 years ago when he was younger, and more productive

Kessel has the most value to a team in need of a pure sniper and power play specialist. I've said this many, many times, but the Coyotes are the first team that comes to mind when it comes to Kessel. Minnesota being stuck in perpetual mediocrity for the last six years should be a signal to them that it's time to rebuild. If they're able to follow a blueprint similar to what the Rangers have done, they'll be able to be a legitimate contender while a guy like Dumba is still in his prime years.

I had this thought, and the more I think about the more sense it makes: Kessel can be to the Colorado Avalanche what Marian Hossa was to the Chicago Blackhawks.
They've already got very good young forwards in MacKinnon (Toews) and Rantanen (Kane), solid vet dmen that can eat up a lot of minutes in Johnson and, if they keep him, Barrie (Keith and Seabrook), and an up and coming goalie that has been waiting and learning and honing his craft and looked good when he's been given a chance in Grubauer (Crawford). What they'd get in Kessel, like Chicago got out of Hossa, is a guy who is not necessarily a leader in the usual sense of the word, but a veteran sniper with a lot of skill that has a bit of a chip on his shoulder that has experience playing at the upper levels of the game and knows what it takes for a team to play at that level.

I think he'd be a great fit there, and they have a real shot at being one of those teams that has a really successful "dynasty" window. Will they? Who knows; it takes a lot of things to go right...and sustaining that. But they have a lot of pieces. They still need to fill out some depth, but they have decent assets in the organization that can develop and fill out those roles. That'll help with the cap and that's what allowed Chicago to carry an expensive high scoring winger who's not on the first line which is usually a luxury most teams can't afford.

he put up over 90 points two years ago, and over 80 points last year. He is still very productive, and his cap hit is actually lower now than it was before the previous trade(Toronto retained salary a million per year). While I don't think necessarily get MORE than got for him 4 years ago. Should get similar value though.
