A Close Cap Hit if KesselJJ Trade Occurs

Created by: BeHappy65
Team: 2019-20 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: May 23, 2019
Published: May 23, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
--Trade rumor reported by The Athletic--

No cap retained by either team in the trade.

MN Wild RFA contracts are @EvolvingWild 's projected cap hits and term (estimated slightly up to make easy/round numbers)

Wild would still have $11,679,745 in cap space after the trade....

Will the Wild sign a significant UFA not named Panarin or Karlsson?

Sure, we have cap space, but where would this free agent play? All of our top 9 forwards should be in the top 9 and all of our top 4 D should be in the top 4. I just don't see where a Pavelski, Eberle, Donskoi, Duchene, Myers, etc. would play unless we make another move.

Edit: I also think that Fenton will try to pull an Arvidsson type deal on Fiala. I don't know what Evolving Wild says it would be, but something like a 5-6 year deal at around $4M AAV.

Edit 2: Evolving Wild has a 5 year deal at around $5M AAV and a 6 year deal around $5.6M AAV. I could see Fenton trying to do something like that, he LOVES Fiala...

Well maybe if Spurgeon gets moved maybe Karlsson or target Miller (VGK) would be great move. So by moving him get some picks or prospects since VGK are over the cap and he is on a great contract

Eh I wouldn't want Karlsson. For one, he's too expensive, and for two, he has about 3-4 years left in him with his injuries and my money is on him signing a 7 year deal. Miller is intriguing if we do explore trading Spurgeon (not in the same deal, just as a Spurgeon "replacement"). I wouldn't move picks and prospects for Miller, though. We've traded away three 1st's in the past 6 drafts if you count Tuch to Vegas, and four 2nd's in that same span leaving us with a crap prospect pool.

I agree with Karlsson. Just responding on what the description said. I brought up Miller cause I think they will trade him for some picks and prospects like a 2nd and a prospect and that would be a great replacement for Spurgeon. Then the return you get for him will equal out and still young

If we could I'd love to move Zucker for Miller but with Vegas' cap issues I doubt they go for that. I do like him a lot. This just gave me an idea...
