If Brock Boeser wants too much money

Created by: TanSor

Description
According to Michael Russo, Fenton called up Vancouver and inquired about Boeser. Russo said that Fenton was basically laughed at, but if Boeser wants too much money then it's possible Vancouver could trade him. I decided to explore a potential Boeser trade here. For the record, I'd be shocked if Vancouver moves him.

Used EvolvingWild contract projections for every MN player.

I don't think we'd be willing to trade Dumba, even for Boeser, which is why I gave Spurgeon instead. Why wouldn't it fit their timeline (genuinely curious)? I think Vancouver could very easily be a playoff team next year

That's high hopes for a team with that D and depth

I mean they'll have Hughes the whole year who looked awesome, Pettersson (and most of their young forwards) should take a jump forward, there's free agents they could sign, and they weren't that far out of the race this year (9 points back). They aren't that far away from being contenders.

If they make this trade, they'd address the D and the depth. Hughes - Spurgeon would be a great top pairing, Losing Boeser would hurt, but Zucker has shown he can score 30 goals. Greenway had 12 goals in his rookie year and looked a lot better as the year went on.

I don't think boeser can demand that type of money yet.
He's probably better off taking a bridge deal and hoping he builds chemistry with Pettersson then cashes in big with his next deal

I agree, but you never know. You can't deny his goal-scoring ability.

Maybe if he played a full 82 game season one of his first 2 years. Don't get me wrong, I love Beoser. Him and Pettersson made me actually like the canucks but to give a guy 9 mil he better consistently score over 35 goals and about 90 points

Exactly. I just think he and his agent will point to his goals in the games he has played as a reason for a lucrative deal. If I'm Vancouver, I don't pay him more than $7.5M on a 5-6 year deal if he isn't willing to accept a bridge, but a bridge deal is ideal.

Boeser is not going anywhere, VAN have no reason to trade away a potential 30-40 goal scorer, Brock is a good character guy and he is not going to demand a crazy amount of money.

Yep that's basically what I said in my description. You never know with contracts, your guess is as good as mine for how much money he wants. I wouldn't completely rule out Boeser wanting big-time money.
