The beauty of the NTC....

This is gonna be tough for the Pens, they need someone to at least half-ways replace Kessel, Arizona doesn’t have that. Nashville doesn’t really either.

Agreed. Important to remember how much his value was suppressed the last time he was traded. Doubt it'll be any different this time around.

Like that deal for the Pens. GMs should stand in line to trade with Minny.

That'd be a steal for PIT.

Was the Coyle trade really that bad for the Wild?

I wouldn’t say it was bad for Minnesota, just really good for Boston

that would have been a TERRIBLE deal, kessel did the team a favor by rejecting it if that's true.

I think Kessel is ready to move on and start his decline. Any team should be very careful in acquiring him. But, I could see Carolina, Arizona, Florida (if no Panarin), NJD look for his services.

Definitely worked out for Boston and Coyle has another season left so it wasn't a rental, that's some smart GMing.
Sweeney did pretty well, that Johansson pickup was the sleeper acquisition of the deadline.

Idk, Rask had that hand injury so if he rebounds back to his prior average point production he's basically producing at a 3C rate and his salary is slightly high but is still pretty comparable to a lot of 3C's whereas Johnson is pretty much just an overpaid 3rd pairing defenseman at this point. I think I'd rather have Rask a considering his age and that he can play down the middle, bottom pairing defenseman are pretty easy to find.

I don’t think that’s true. Rask was playing bad and continued to do so, but Nido played well = Loss for the Wild. Donato was playing bad w/ Boston but flourished in Minnesota, Coyle came as advertised, or less than, during the regular season but has been good for the playoffs. If Boston wins the Cup then maybe but Minnesota wins longterm if we are basing it off the small sample size so far.

He's got three seasons left, I doubt his decline will be that bad, realistically his contract is a steal at this point.
