Hell of a deal. His projected contract was 4 Years @4.5 Million. Can slot into the top 4 and is perfect for the 3rd line pairing

Steal of a deal, I figured he would’ve been up for at least 2.4 million a year

Big win for Bergevin here. Kulak has been super consistent throughout the season. He easily deserves more than 1.85M imo

Really good 3rd pairing defenseman. Low risk, high reward contract.

1.85M is less than I thought he'd make but 4.5M??????

According to the contract predictor on Twitter. Based off of production and advanced numbers, that's what he should geget

Reilly was never coming back. Couldn't even crack the top 6 before Kulak was a thing

I looked at that and it also had Gardiner at almost 7M X 7 years.

3.7M is a bit better. Still too much IMO for Kulak. I was expecting 2.5M-2.9M or something like that.

It’s probably due to Kulak’s good underlying numbers, but a player of his track record would never realistically get that money. Probably what he deserves based on his numbers this year.

this is a really great deal for MTL. I don't know about these 3-4 million projections for a 3rd pairing guy, but I would have thought he got 2+
And if people are worried he'd bottom out his AHL cap hit would be like 700k or so, that's easy to move if need be.

Gardiner is going to get very close to 7x7 in FA. It's fairly accurate IMO.

The article I sent shows what they use to predict contracts

It's actually slightly more than I expected. I had him down for 3 years/$1.6M AAV on my Armchair GM team, but I'm still happy with it. Ideally we get a top-4 LD and he solidiifies the 3rd pair with Juulsen/Folin.

Edit: That's a lie. I had him down for a 1 year/$1.6M bridge. In that case 3 years/$1.85M AAV is VERY good!

Slightly more? You sir are expecting too much. He definitely took a discount to stay in MTL

EDIT Didn't see the 2nd part lol

Larry Carrière is no longer in charge of contract it's the youngster layer they had as a AHL commissioner for Hamilton who is now in charge

What you call over payment but solid depth defensemen. He is a good 5th/6th dmen to have.

How is 1.85 an overpayment for a 5th/6th defensemen? SMG
