5x8.5 isn't reasonable. 7x9.5 is though given the tax incentives.

Jackets decline. Bjorkstrand is really starting to develop nicely. Even Torts likes him. Not going anywhere.

Friedman and Marek said on their latest podcast if he is set on playing with Tampa that he would have to take a discount and even thought he might not make more than Hedman to get it done just so he can get term.

I totally think it’s reasonable. I truly believe that if he wants to go there so badly, he will take the same contract as his friend/reason he wants to go there, Victor Hedman. 6 years at $7.875. Sure he could go elsewhere and make $8, or 9, or maybe even $11 million. But at the end of the day, he’s made his money. Nearly $50 MILLION ($46,355,309 according to the career earnings page on here)
Why not go have fun in the sun, and try to win a championship? It’s not always about the money.

@kuchdaddy86 your username is great! I think point and Karlsson both make 9 million but the term is up in the air. Also I'm not really for trading Palat atm I'm banging on the killorn trade drum and gourde even though it looks bad.

No Karlsson .. damaged goods .. plus zero cap for 2020 when Vaz Cirelli Joseph Cernek and Serg are all due as RFA and no one comes off books .. why doing any of the dumb Karlason folks see this.. not to mention he is NOT needed in Tampa .. he a regular season stats guy who isn't tough. got enough of those soft serve ice cream cones..

You don't want to put Hedman and Karlsson on the same line. One has to be one 2nd pairing with McDonagh.

8.5M in Tampa is around 9.5M in New York (state) and 10.5M in San Jose.

8.5M for Karlsson in tampa could be reasonable

What are you taking about. Karlsson is 0.83 ppg in the playoffs. Remeber when he single handedly dragged Ottawa's ass to the ECF?
Quit your campain against Karlsson if you have no proof/stats/reasonable thesis backing up what you are saying

McDonagh will play with Cernak as they were the best D pairing for Tampa last season.

Hedman and Karlsson probably would play together, s they did when they were younger and when they play together ifor the Swedish national team

Those are two offensive defensemen you dont want to play them on the same line you need balance throughout your blue line.

the going rate for him is 11. i agree that the discount in florida will be significant, but i think it's more like 9.5 rather than 8.5

I don't know, I think the max price has lowered a bit because of his injuries of this season

If they play together Hedman will probably be in charge of being more aware on the defensive end.
But will see, let's discuss this only if/when Tampa signs EK65. I'm still disappointed because of that "Sources tell me Karlsson to Tampa is a done deal" of last July lol

It has been said multiple times that he will take Hedman money to come to Tampa. Around 8 mill or so

Damaged goods. Two VERY serious lower body injuries last couple years as he approaches 30.
Yeah that makes a lot of sense to ruin your cap for .. and defensively he is weak to say otherwise is just silly

No, these are still speculations. And it's true that we have to take them as they are. We can be pretty sure that if he comes to Tampa he'll take a discount ( as otherwise we won't be able to fit him) but the number he'd come with is all but sure. could be low 8 to high 9 for what we know

I agree. Is it possible for me to say hell never sign for this little and simultaneously say this is way more than Tampa should pay?
