In theory this could work Trades with Vegas Toronto and Detroit

Created by: Jacketsman61

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Vegas is looking for a taker on Clarkson's contract and also wants to move Miller. Weird but the Jackets will have a lot of cap space and could easily take on the last year of Clarkson. Vegas would get Wennberg, who is very good buddy of William Karlsson.

Toronto needs a RHD. Miller would be perfect. Jackets get a few picks for Miller and prepare for the draft.

Jackets then trade Ryan Murray and Sonny Milano to Detroit for more draft picks. Detroit could really use a good defenseman in Murray to rebuild with. Milano will be a wild card. A bit of a gamble but he may just need a change of scenery.

Clarkson will go to LTIR.

Agree. If Murray can stay healthy at least. Would really love if Detroit could find a way to get werenski out or Columbus but can’t see a feasible trade to be had there.

Detroit has a log jam at D so you'd need to take Daley back with you to open a slot for Murray. I do think Murray is good but he has only played one full season. He has missed 35% of possible games played. Now I wouldn't give up a 2 2nd rd picks and a 3rd rd pick for a player that has had so many injuries. It looks like Milano is a career AHL guy worth a 4th at most. Plus Detroit is still rebuilding they need to keep picks not trade them away.

Murray is better than any defenseman currently on Detroit. Very fair deal. Defense cost money and Detroit has a poor defense. Remember a successful rebuild starts from building from the blue line out.

But the only way to rebuild is through the draft!! Detroit isn't far enough along in their rebuild to start giving up 3 picks of one player. What good is a player who's always injured? He has missed 35% of possible games played. That's over 1/3 of the games he could have played. I don't think anyone is going 2 2nd rd picks and a 3rd for Murray.

The 2 teams with tight caps are taking on more cap.

Vegas has to pass. They would anyhow.

      Toronto has to pass...

CBJ should offer Panarin $13M x 8 years.
That would at least show they are serious to keep him.
Trade Wennberg, buy out Dubi, & trade Nash for extra salary cap relief. He drives the play from the wing like a center does, so he should get paid like a top tier center.
