Can't go wrong. 2 way contract and adds decent depth. Plus still an RFA after next season.

I'm fine with that. Will help Laval and mentor younger guys like Brook and Fleury. Decent back up if needed!

Surprised he took a 2way deal. Guess he liked being team captain in Laval!

How is it weird? Just your average depth defenseman signing.

League minimum contract, depth defenseman who is young-ish and could play for the Habs if need be. Also interesting to note that this is $35,000 less than his qualifying offer.

Only 2 notable players left to sign - Armia & Lehkonen - plus a few marginal guys (McCarron, Hudon, Reilly, Lernout) if any of the latter get signed at all. No one so far seems weirdly overpaid, so there should be ample cap room to swing some deal later

His minors salary is much higher than his QO would have been, so he accepted the security of making more money in the minors.

I'd expect Bergevin to be very active in Free Agency. Maybe he'll take a run at Matt Duchene. Panarin and Pavelski probably won't look at MTL. They still desperately need scoring up front and on the PP, which is terrible now but could be decent w/ a scoring Forward. Weber is still excellent on the back end.

They need offense from the defense. We don't really need to touch the offense. There isn't room unless Bergevin plans to move out one of our top 6 forwards. I just don't see Montreal going out and acquiring a top 6 player. I could definitely see them being highly interested in every LHD on the market though.

No (normal) player that cleared Waivers & spent the majority of the season in the AHL is getting a million dollars.

He spent a majority of the season in the AHL you are right. Doesn't mean that is where he belongs. He is a 7th defensemen all day long.

I don’t know about that. Christian Folin only got $100K more, and Ouellet doesn’t have the same leverage, being an RFA.

I'd say both Folin and Ouellet are in the same bout. They are both capable of being #7 defensemen.

Sure. Which is why it’s not unreasonable that he is paid a mere $100K less than Folin.
