Turris Contract Solution

Created by: Billy739
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 27, 2019
Published: May 27, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
NSH gets to shed cap without losing Production or Possession as Shaw's one of the best secondary Centers in the league .(not good enough to be full time center but can help a young Center become a top 6 like he did with Danault over 2 years )

MTL can live with Turris cap as he's a consistent bulk faceoff Center which will be key in helping our youth get points. (more possession = more points )

Turris also gives us the option to trade Danault before he goes UFA instead of cashing out on a Payday he's earning. (by then Kotkanemi and Poehling should be top 6 )
Free Agent Signings
RFAYEARSCAP HIT
3$2,200,000
4$1,650,000
2$950,000
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Turris, Kyle
  2. 2020 1st round pick (NSH)
Additional Details:
NSH offloads a 5 year 6 million dollar deal

if NSH buys out Alzner before the final game of the season then their 1st becomes a 2nd in 2020 instead . (remember they are cash strapped to the point Subbans being offered up for Trade by the GM and this gives them an out without sacrifice )
NSH
  1. Alzner, Karl ($2,300,000 retained)
  2. Shaw, Andrew ($1,700,000 retained)
Additional Details:
NSH takes on Shaw at 2.2m over 3 years
NSH takes on 2.3m over 3 years with Alzner

Alzner fills the role Hamuis barely filled last year as the bottom pair shot block leader. before MTL changed their system on Alzner he had a decade of 100+ hit and blocked shot of which a half Dozen NHL players can claim . At 2.3m he's an upgrade on what you got offering a level of play you wont find for that cap .(plus he is hungry to prove himself and in the physical West he can)

if Alzner doesnt work out NSH buys him out for under 900K a season 1/5th of Turris buyout with 2 years less term .
2.
MTL
  1. Aho, Sebastian
  2. Ho-Sang, Joshua [RFA Rights]
  3. 2020 2nd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
-Untested Quality LD prospect with an A- or B+ ranking.
-A Player who has talent but enough attitude to have both AHL and NHL coaches call him out publicly . A change of system might help Humble him .

Tatar provides immediate impact as he has for us often being a key player in our wins.

I think this is a win-win trade. Shaw will be better than Smith on the 2nd line after Arvidsson. Alzner & Shaw will be very cheap.
Turris need to work out in MTL because it will become a really bad trade if he cant keep up. But I believe in him

I don't see Montreal retaining 4 Million for three years and paying Turris 6 Million on top of that. Montreal would be better off trading Shaw for a left shot D, I like Turris and think he would do well in Montreal but the deal doesn't really make sense to me. Habs are going to be in a cap crunch in two years and this deal will kill them then. I also think Danault will be a longtime member of the Habs and transition into a penalty kill and defense specialist sort of how Plecanec did.

If Poehling can be a Plekanec, Danault will be trade.

its why the 1st was included

i've been a Danault guy since his QMJHL days and one of the few who supported MB when he traded for him as i knew his potential and ultimately with KK and RP here the tough question has to be asked .

is Danault willing to play 3rd line longterm ?
my guess given i met him and talked to him often when he played her is No he wont .
Turris fits our third line Bulk Center needs and honestly it'll be 2024 before we're facing tough cap decisions so even if you're worried about that in the final year we can just move him out .

Faceoff Centers of Turris Consistency last a long time because Playoff teams like PIT have top end talent who needs help with Faceoff wins creating a job for a Matt Cullen or a Jay Beagle as they age . Turris in MTL just has to win faceoffs to help our youth as we are experiencing a large influx of youth which will need help there first few years developing consistency .

Danault is Superior to Plekanec which is why letting him waste away in bottom 6 wont be an option as its Unlikely he'll re-sign knowing that's his future .
Danault took the long road overcoming hurtle's to get to where he is and by the time he's UFA he'll be looking to cash in on that

Besides Signing Domi and Gallagher longterm is the only option
Danault will make more then Turris by the time he's UFA so this allows MTL to get payed while avoiding paying more in a UFA bidding competition .

Poehlings the first Power Center with Skill we've had since Damphousse .
he's got a reputation for his Defense because of his conditioning being effected unknowingly by an airway obstruction St Cloud Team doctors found and fixed.
since his surgery he's been on a Surge leading one of the top 2 NCAA teams all year , Leading the World Jr Tournament and Scoring 3 Goals and a OT winner no less his first game .

if he had this surgery a year before his draft and had the chance to showcase his complete game i think he woulda went top 10 overall as his ability to properly breathe has given the big man more energy and stamina

Danault better than Plekanec ? Not sure. Pleky score 29 goals a season, record a 69 & 70 points seasons. I dont think Danault have this offensive upside, but will be as good or better than Pleky defensively.
