Not saying either team would want that, but the trade is certainly not a steal for the Leafs. Let's focus on the key elements: it's 3 years of Johnny Hockey against 6 years of a player with elite potential, younger, but with a cloud of uncertainty cast over his head, Nylander. Value is probably tilting in favour of the Leafs, but contract length and age have to account for something. The thing is, then you add Kadri on an excellent contract, who can play 2C, and has a high trading value. And then Johnsson, one of the top NHL rookies this year. That becomes lopsided in favour of Calgary.
Brodie and Zaitsev are more or less interchangeable. I prefer Brodie, but he's a one year rental, and Zaitsev will keep improving next year.
