Kessel would not accept a trade to the Oilers. He already thinks that the Wild would not contend if he was traded there, so he definitely would not go to Edmonton.

Pittsburgh could get a lot more value for Kessel.

What would you need to send Malkin to Buffalo?

Makes sense value wise but the Sabres wont move him for an older guy with a bigger cap hit. Oh well, it's nice to dream.

That's 100% the problem with any trade involving Malkin. The Penguins would have to add a younger guy who is proven, and especially with the Seattle draft around the corner, GM's aren't willing to move those guys. It would be different if the Penguins weren't Stanley Cup contenders without Malkin, but they still very much are and still need some production to take his place and keep trying to win in the Crosby years.

Honestly I don't see him being moved for that reason. Maybe to a team like Arizona or Florida that have been stuck in neutral for years. But then Malkin has a NTC to waive to, correct? If i'm Pittsburgh I just keep my 2 elite centers together.

Yeah I don't think there was much merit to the idea of him being traded. Just a ploy to keep Penguins analysts in business during the off season.

I would have to disagree. I think Kessel is worried about not only contending, but also who could feed him the puck. I think Edmonton is an interesting option, but I think more would be coming back.

All 3 trades I doubt happen. I think a Kessel trade to Edm would focus around Nurse or someone better coming back. Malkin would not be traded within the division and I doubt he is moved this offseason. Zucker for JJ is not fair value. Also how does this roster make Penguins better than this past year?
