Everyone on here is OS marner, and for good reason. However wouldn't the leafs like to guarantee players that are in positions of needs instead of just getting draft picks that COULD turn out to be something?

I like this for both sides.

here me out on this. II know to some leafs fans this won't even come close but hear me out and offer your opinions in the comments. Jacob Trouba is the type of player the leafs have been looking for for a long time. A top 2 shutdown dman RHD who is still capable of putting up solid offensive numbers. In my opinion that covers roughly half to 65% of Marners value. With Ehlers in on the trade, he can act at as a poor mans Marner but still young with lots of potential still. Jack Roslovic can be plugged in right away as their number 3 center and can develop behind Matthews and Tavares. The picks in to sweeten the deal and I figure it must be somewhat close. IT may seem like a lot to give up for the jets however they fill one of their biggest needs for a long time in a true #2C and a player who can feed Laine the puck for the duration of their careers.

Obviously Trouba signs a long term contract if the trade is even considered (like the Mark Stone deal). For the people saying TrOuBa wOnT sTaY iN cAnAdA, his hometown of Detroit is like in the back yard of Toronto. So that shouldn't really be an issue.
