I don't think that's the type of trade Pittsburgh is seeking. They wont get a player as good as Phil or close to back. But something like Phil and Johnson for Buchnevich + Lindgren + Winnipeg 1st works

Take out the retention on Johnson and it isn't a terrible deal. Im not sure Andersson would fit with the penguins due to attitude but I think hed be a good fit. I also hope that Yotes trade is a joke. Keller isn't getting traded.

Coyotes trade is just silly. They aren't trading their franchise player for scraps

Buch topped 40 points exactly one time. Kreider is 28 needing a new contract that'll look bad by year 4 or 5. But sure, keep pumping that rhetoric that they're worth a 20 year old budding superstar lol

Keller is not a "franchise player".. he had a total of 47 points in 82 games last year on a supposedly improved Coyotes team (definitely up for debate).. he did put up 65 the year prior. He is an average top line forward. I say average because he is a step below the elites that exist (pastrnak, aho, debrincat, laine (who could be in the next group with his shot), etc) and nowhere close to the franchise players (kucherov, draisaitl, ovechkin, johnny hockey, marner, etc)
I'll cede that the trade is probably not enough for all of the pieces from Arizona, depending on how you view Hjalmarsson
Kreider had 52 last year in 79 games, and 37 in 58 the year prior.. he's a solid 50-60 point player every year essentially.
Buchnevich still has untapped potential at only 23 (a few years older than keller) and has gotten better every single year in terms of points per game (.487, .581, .594) which averages out to 40, 48, and 49 points per 82. Considering he had an "inconsistent year" last year, it is not unfathomable to think he could put up 60 points over an 82 game season.
Vesey is simply a third line forward with a scoring touch on a not so bad contract.
So Arizona would get rid of a lets say 50-60 point player that has room to grow (i averaged the two seasons), a defensive defenseman and in return they would get a 50+ point player, a 40-50 point player that has room to grow, and a depth scorer. It's not the worst deal in the world as Kreider+Buchnevich>Keller. The deficiency and vesey just isn't = Hjalmarsson, let alone the 2nd round pick. I would say throw in a player like Pionk and maybe a 3rd rounder from Arizona (instead of the 2nd rounder), and it wouldn't be a bad deal for either team. Arizona get's more scoring and more depth that they sorely need, and rangers get the player they've wanted for a long time (back to the stepan deal) and a reunion with DQ
TheDime99 and Mike_Gartner liked this.
