Never. If MTL offersheets Marner for 12 mil, he's yours. Thanks for the 4 firsts. Also growing up a Leaf fan his whole life, he's not signing in MTL... sorry.

ask freaking Max Domi - you know... the kid who spent his whole childhood IN the leaf's dressing room...

He was traded... he didn't have a choice.

And it's not like Marner would be getting pennies from the leafs. It would hardly be any different. 8 years at 10.5 is barely different than 7 at 12... it's the same contract value just one extra year to pay it out.

You're delusional. IT'S DIFFERENT. Bergeron did not leave Montreal to sign with Boston for an extra 1 mil. He was already in Boston, loved the city, on an amazing team, why would he leave? Just like Marner, he's on a good team, in a city he loves, AND playing for a team he loves. So why would he leave?

Your Bergeron comment strengthens my point if anything, he took a discount to stay where he was happy. Nice try tho.

It's okay to be emotional about your favorite player leaving... but the problem is that your beloved leaf are considerably f*cked if they do.

do you think you will go further in the playoff... with your top 4 in D gone... and with Kapanen or Johnsson gone? Without any prospect readily available to fill their shoes?

Way to come back with a non factual argument, typical internet troll. Under what circumstances is any of what your suggesting going to happen? Explain to me how the Leafs are ****ed if Marner leaves and they get 4 1st round picks? and if he stays it'll be for 10.5 or less (given the compensation structure https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1192184) The leafs aren't "f*cked" in any way. But I would love to hear a delusional habs fan perspective on how they are.

Sign him for 10.5M... and you bought you V12 without a transmission nor gas.

- I'm telling you, trading Marner for a big package is probably the best thing for the leafs. Kakko or another great prospect on an ELC could be great.

MTL doesn't want Marner... we have a contract apocalypse in 2021, so we are keeping some cap space for flexibility

-> I just think the leafs are better off getting a young start on ELC (like Kappo) or a stud prospect at D ( plus the rest of tha package)

It's better to have a balance team.

you may score 5 goals in average per night... but if you get scored the same amount... you are not better.

while if you go down to 3.5 goals per game, but with a 2.3 goal against... you will win more often

Problem of Toronto is defense . The fact that they have a lot of offensive star force them to put a lot of money overthere . We can offersheet right under the 10,568,000 to only give 2 first if im not mistaking . Either way it's gonna be hard to pay all theses stars .

it can be that easy : https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1160057

and with the current fuss about Zaitsev requesting trade even easier

Zaitsev have negative value if you ask me .. This is Toronto main cap problem , get rid of that contract and it sound way better but it's easier said than done i think .
