I wouldnt do that if im New Jersey. They shouldnt make trades just to please Hall. The team is young, stay the course. If Hall wants to leave, you deal with that after.

Those are some pretty team-friendly contracts to trade for and to get veteran presence in that locker room to guide the young team. NJD would still have 7 picks/year in the next two drafts. Not really veering off course. Just trading extra assets. Hall is a superstar and superstars do not grow on trees.

I dont think you need to give up that much in the Tampa trade. Callahan is strictly a salary dump, he has negative value. Even if you consider him neutral you are giving up a 2nd a 4th and two prospects for Miller. Now, I'm not a Devils fan (Rangers in fact) and I admit I know nothing about these two kids. And the 2nd round pick is the Bruins, so its practically a third, which makes the deal more fair. But I'd leave off one of the prospects for sure.
