The problem is that he's UFA after next season so the is no guarantee that you would have him year 2. He would have to be signed to an extention before he had any trade value.

Because he's such a late bloomer, it's really hard to gauge his value. Similar to when Bill Karlsson blew up last year. He put up a 40/80 season, but would any team have traded for him if he cost what a 40 goal centre usually costs? Probably not. I would imagine his next season will look a lot like Karlsson's follow up season: a seeming step back, but still ultimately proving he's not a total fluke. I think he'll put up around 40 points next year.

I could see a team like MTL, who needs a lefty who can play in the top 4 and run the PP giving up a 1st, but I don't think you're likely to get more than that.
