TOR BUF FLA DAL

Created by: CowSaysMoo
Team: 2019-20 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: May 31, 2019
Published: May 31, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Plenty of moves are made by GM Paul Fenton to make this team younger and more exciting to watch. The right-handed issue is addressed and no longer does Bruce Boudreau have to worry about playing guys on their off-wing. Nico Sturm plays a year in Iowa before taking a full-time job when Koivu retires after next year. Let me know what you think!

Trades
1.
MIN
  1. Pysyk, Mark
  2. Trocheck, Vincent
Additional Details:
MIN receives a player in Trochek they have never had in the history of their franchise. A true, number 1 center and right-handed to make it better.
FLA
  1. Spurgeon, Jared ($2,500,000 retained)
  2. 2019 3rd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
The only way this trade happens is if Florida gets permission to talk to Spurgeon and his agent about an extension. Florida has an extension in place and the deal is done. MIN retains salary so FLA has room for Panarin and Bobrovsky. Change is happening in Sunrise, Florida.
2.
MIN
  1. 2021 4th round pick (DAL)
3.
MIN
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
MIN receives a right-handed top-6 winger they have been searching for.
TOR
  1. Greenway, Jordan
Additional Details:
TOR gets some size to their top 6 who is also cheap. Can play in front of the net on the power play. No more getting pushed around by Boston.
4.
MIN
  1. Nylander, Alexander
  2. Sobotka, Vladimír
  3. 2019 1st round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
MIN receives a right-handed shot that could use a change of scenery. Nylander joins a core with a ton of players around his age. Sobotka is a cap dump to make sure BUF can sign Skinner while also make other moves.
BUF
  1. Zucker, Jason
Additional Details:
BUF receives a goal-scorer up front to play on the second line (assuming Skinner re-signs which rumors are coming out an extension is close). A solid secondary scoring option.

I’m okay with that Toronto deal if kappy doesn’t fit in our cap. But only because it’s the wild...

What is your opinion on Nylander? Do you think he can become the player he was drafted to be? I take it you are a Sabres fan.

He's a complete unknown. Could be a 20/30 guy or could be playing in the SHL in 2 years. I would lean towards the latter but there's still a chance he rights the ship.

I can’t take credit for the idea. I have seen it thrown around here recently and I think it fulfills both team’s needs without too much swing in cap going either way. It’s a hockey trade as they call it.

What do you think of the Marleau rumors today?

As a Sabres fan in would not want to give up Nylander, I would rather give up someone like Asplund or another pick. I think the value is right, O would just change the pieces around a bit.

I don't see Dallas re-investing in Pateryn. We had the opportunity and let him walk in FA. Even if we did, I'd think a 4th is too high, even if 2 yrs from now. Just really no need for him.

For that exact reason we should take a chance on him, we got nothing to lose. Let him play 40 Nhl games this year with good linemates and he will prove himself one way or the other

I think getting rid of nylander is justified by ridding ourselves of sobotka and recieving a sold second line winger

I think the value is fine, I just don't want to sell low on Nylander. He has looked good when he has played in the NHL. I think the Sabres just mishandled him greatly his first couple of seasons, and last year should have been his first year in the AHL. I actually think he will be a decent NHL player this year.

Honestly how much higher is his ceiling than Zucker? Not much. Granted he’s older but you’re just hoping nylander is good which at this point is probably 70/30 in the wrong direction. Plus you free 3M+ in cap. Done deal for me.
