Every player signed to there reported ask then trades to accommodate cap

Description
Still a touch over with 20 players and your moving 1 of Krieder, Johansson or Hyman when he's activated, sold pretty much every pick, if they don't make the show both Krieder and Harmonic gain you good picks in 2020. Highly doubt each RFA gets what he wants, likely scenario would be Leafs scrape under cap with 22 players.

4.
CGY

NYR would pass. 8th overall is great to have, but not great enough to lose both of those players to get it. One, ok. Both, nope.

Doubt it Harmonic has been a complete bust in Calgary, just cause you over paid to get him doesn't mean your overpaid to move him

Hamonic has not been a complete bust. His first year was a disaster but his second year was phenomenal. He is on a great contract for one more year and provides some great leadership and grit. He was a rock this year. I would do the original trade 100 times over. Brodie will get moved. Hamonic will not unless it is an extreme overpay

No chance the 8th over all player in this draft becomes more than Kapenen would be on McDavids wing, there's all of 5 players in the league with McDavids speed and Kappy is one of them. If you want McDavid in copper and blue beyond next season your in win now mode not 3 years down the road

I could see the 2019 2nd rnd turning into the 2020 1st rnd to get the deal done

Considering what NYR is trying to do, that change helps. I think it really just depends on how much they like Deangelo and how he fits into their future plans. He looks very promising as an offensive D.

Partially agree with what you said but if I'm trading that pick i want more certainty than Kapanen gives

It absolutely depends on their plans, NYR is a UFA haven and not a patient fan base, I see them getting Panarin and quite possibly Karlsson at reasonable rate, makes DeAngelo movable and they basically get a 1st for Krieder a 1st for DeAngelo have virtually 0 salary to pay Marleau and absorb the cap hit with thier space plus Marleau would be great on that third line with the rookies

If Karlsson signs there, I agree, that trade looks great for them.

You won't get either of those players with the 8th overall, Athanasiou is much bigger risk and less consistent over his ELC than kappy
