Toronto GM should be thrown out a window if that's the contract. I am really really really iffy on signing a 20 goal scorer to 11 million dollar contracts. I can see why Matthews got his. He's a 40 goal scorer already and will probably have a few 50 goal years when all is said and done and that's pretty amazing. But I don't ever see Marner doing that.

I know this. But he's not worth it. And that point has to sink in at some point. One is a 40 goal scorer who has potential to hit 50 in his career. The other guy hasn't even sniffed 30.
He's a good player, he's not worth 11 million and that point needs to sink in.

Your missing Marner's point though. He got almost 70 assists this year and has had at least 40 in every season, Matthews hasn't even sniffed 40. Over the past couple of seasons, Marner has played more games but has way outplayed Matthews. Matthews had 73 points this year, Marner was five away from 73 assists. I understand that Matthews hasn't played even close to as many games, but Marner has helped the Leafs way more than Matthews has.

Because everyone knows pass it toMatthews so he can shoot the puck. He's simply better at putting it in the net.
