Description

Let me break it down - Lucic is getting older and slower but on a team like Toronto where physicality is needed so badly he could be a real asset in the role of physical 4th liner who plays 8-11 minutes a game. Larsson would play on the first pair with Rielly allowing Rielly a more mobile partner who can help cover his mistakes. Larsson would also be a great mentor for Liljegren and Sandin. I don't think that Kapanen is enough for Larsson alone, so I added Brown. The Leafs have enough RW depth to cover this. I then added Zaitsev as a cap dump/somebody to help cover the right side. Feel like TOR says no due to the intense hatred fans have for Lucic around the league (not as bad as we all say) but had to ask

One player is not worth 5 it's a team game.

I watched the leaf screw up there teams with dumb moves since the 80's. It never changes in Toronto and they don't win the cup.

Im on the same boat as you here, tho i have to admit i switched from QBC together with Sundin. If you do any simulations, you will notice its all fine, with Kadri and Brown being only Cap victims, not even to mention now away running Zaitsev and other rumors. A little insight :

You can’t retain more then 50% of the contract total. Not 50% each.

A guy an be traded twice with retention (same contract). Each trade can have up to 50% retention. Team C can get a guy for 25% of his contract.

Team A trades the guy and retains 50%. Team B can also retain 50% in a trade (as they only hold 50%, their 1/2 retention is 25% of the original). Team C gets the guy at 25% of the original.

Ya they word it weird in the CBA, I was repeating what I was told. I see now that just the percentages are based off the original contract, and not all retentions being limited to 50% of original total. Found the Devan Dubnyk trade as an example. Funny, was the Oilers too.
