You're an idiot if you think the kings can afford to take on 9 million dollars for Bracco, and they are in general one of the older teams in the league, that trade makes zero sense

Then I'm glad the Kings aren't eating $9M for Bracco. However, if I were you, I'd have a conversation with whoever taught you math.

The actual number value going back to LA is $7.625M. They're also about to begin a rebuild, their team is literal dogsh*t. Bracco blew the AHL apart last year and the Kings get a 2nd Round pick for their troubles too. Zaitsev isn't sexy, but has shown flashes of being an NHL defender. Is it possible that getting out of the Toronto market helps him regain his rookie season form? And Marleau's for a year, with the possibility of a retain and flip at next year's deadline.

There's absolutely no expectation that the Kings are going to be good next year, and no reason as to why that won't be what happens next year. Take the picks and prospects, move on from the drama, and keep warm bodies in the lineup. This trade might actually make sense?

So you decide to send Zaitsev from one ****ty defensive team to another and they aren't going to rebuild with Kopitar and Doughty still there, dont assume they are gonna do anything. Theres not a lot of incentive in that trade Bracco might be good, but not 5 years of Zaitsev for 4.5 and players can do really well on the ahl that doesn't always mean succesa in the nhl and u also need to pay Marner more money

The Kings knew what they were getting into prior to signing the Doughty and Kopitar extensions. With Brown, Carter, Quick, and even Phaneuf, occupying both roster spots and cap space, there is no reality for this team to be competitive. The top-6 winger depth beyond Toffolli is nonexistent, the core is aged out, and the team is only starting to amass a decent pool of prospects. Even that last statement though hinges on Vilardi being able to recover from his back surgeries and play hockey again. There are 7 teams in the Pacific division that are better than the Kings. Last season proved that, and it's unlikely that Edmonton and Anaheim are as bad as they were past season next year. Hell, there's 14 teams better than the Kings in the west right now, and the only way that changes is if Minny finally bottoms out or if Chicago gets literally no goaltending next season.

Marner will sign for less than $10M. It's his agent's job to throw outrageous numbers to guys like Dreger, but by no means does that guarantee what he makes. There's no precedent for Marner to make even as much as I've signed him for in this AGM. It's beyond moronic to expect him to screw the Leafs: he'll make more in endorsements that he will on his contract and he wants to win in Toronto. HE cannot do that at $11M per.

This is a horrible trade for LA. They take on way to much cap for very little gain.

Where do you get LA only taking on 7.65 in cap? Marleau is $6.25 Zaitev is 4.5 and Ilya still costs them 3.1 that's 10.75 on thier cap that wasnt last year.

Also Marner signs for more then that, especially over 8 years. If Mathews for 8 years was asking 13 million, Marner for 8 years in likely a 12 million guy. Leafs can go shorter term for less money but it's hard to argue with guys when Skinner is making 9 million next year while never breaking 65 points. I know goals are worth more but a guy who is 4 years younger, plays more minutes, plays more special teams and out produces by 30 points is going to get over $10 million, no matter the years.
