I'd take Brink, Lavoie, Warren or Suzuki over Broberg any day. Vancouver would take Newhook over Krebs, and Zegras is much better than 12th.
Montreal has tended to draft for need in the first round as of late; Broberg fits that bill and can play in the AHL sooner than York or Harley. Lavoie or Brink are justifiable, Suzuki would not be outside of Montreal purposefully drafting to have brothers on their team instead of any of the players ranked ahead of Suzuki.
Newhook and Krebs are interchangeable sure, but the video the Canucks released to their Youtube page about this year's draft is highly suggestive of Caufield being their guy. Hard to see them passing on his playmaking equivalent from their own backyard. What is the Canucks record for BCHL picks? Off the top of my head I believe it's a league they tend to avoid.
No he isn't. And it's not a slight on him, but there are 11 better names ahead of him at this year's draft.
