You should not be giving Wayne Simmonds that much money. There are many UFA wingers you can get at cheaper value that are better than Simmonds.

Simmonds gives them something no one else on the team can give them and someone will overpay him as a UFA. And then again this isnt even that bad a deal

As an Arizona fan, where is Lawson Crouse? He's not going to put up the same numbers as Simmonds but he does the same thing for the most part, bring that mean, physical presences the rest of the team is missing.
Arizona gets hosed in the Kessel trade. I understand he's a great goal scorer but he controls his own destiny for the most part and it's pretty well known that he really only wants to play for Pittsburg or Arizona at this point.
For Minnesota, don't think Arizona does that trade. Most of their prospects have graduated by now/been traded so the cupboard is looking a little dry for quality prospects, no sense in trading their 1st round pick for the 2nd time in 3 years. Also Goligoski has worked quite well for them and I'm not dismissing Spurgeon as a good player, but it's a fairly lateral move. Remember, Coyotes quietly had a very good season defensively, top 5 or so, so there's no real reason to break up the d-corps for now.
