Moving up in 3 rounds of the draft isn't gonna be enough for Van or anyone else to take Lucic.. Lol
Need a 3-way trade to move him, Edmonton retains 1/3 and sends something of value along to a middle man team who then retains 1/3 and ships Lucic to a team that thinks they can use him for about $2M a season, that team sends a pick or whatever to the middle man team and either the middle man team or the team that takes Lucic sends Edmonton something of little value like a depth AHL player or 7th round pick or something.
$2 million of dead cap space for 4 seasons is a lot better then the $6 million he'll take up and it's way better then buying him out, it's also way less costly asset wise then trying to trade him to one team alone, someone will want something very good to take all $6M of Lucic for 4 long seasons. Just need to find a team who wants him and a team who'd be a willing middle man.
It's either that or a cap dump for a cap dump trade which is my personal favorite... ?
Or keep him and hope he improves or hope Seattle doesn't want too much of a sweetener to claim him in the expansion draft.
