Krejci's value is high because he's a legit #1 center, Krug's value is high because he's a legit #1 D. Hayes and Sanheim don't come close to either. What do you do next year when you have to sign DeBrusk and Grzelcyk?

Krug is not good in his own zone. He is not a #1 defenseman.

Krejci could possibly be a #1 on a bad team... maybe.

Hayes is a strong #2 center while splitting time with coyle (13 - 15mins each) he is a great option. By moving to Hayes Boston gets younger.

Sanheim is a legit top 4 defenseman just like Krug except younger with room to grow.

Next year Backes will be able to be bought out with one year left on his deal. Coyle will move on and Studnika can take over 3C after a year in the minors and Chara will retire. that leaves about 10M in cap space (Assuming the cap stays the same... it will probably go up) for plenty of space to resign Debrusk and Grez.

Krejci is one of the league's 31 best C's, Krug is one of the league's 31 best D's. People keep telling me how Krug is bad in his own zone but it's just not true. I also hear about how Carlo is helping him stay in the game. That is so ridiculous considering Carlo would be stuck in his own zone for 80% of the game if not for Krug. He's helping Carlo look better, not the other way around. He gets the puck out of his own zone, he's massive in the offensive zone, and he's also underrated defensively. The best defensemen don't defend all the time, they turn defense into offense - Krug does exactly that.

Without Krejci the 2nd line is worse than the third line. So you have kept the third line intact but at the cost of decimating the 2nd line beyond recognition. When Krug is gone, how do you replace his production on the power-play?

Kevin Hayes is great. But I’d be pretty gun shy about doing another Hayes experiment. Plus I think him and Jimmy convinced Vesey not to go to Boston (regretting that decision I bet) so I doubt Hayes would go to the Bs after the **** show his brother was. And I think there are better options out there like RNH. And I was a big Krug doubter earlier but these playoffs are showing me that he is improving is defensive game. I’m not 100% convinced yet. But to me he is making it nearly impossible to justify trading him at this point. And with Carlo coming into his own. That’s a deadly duo I think I’d want to keep together.

Cmon. Krug is not a number one d. Up until this year he’s been 3rd pair. He’s a fringe second pair power play specialist

Just to be clear, being a top 31 d in the league doesn’t make you a number one d man. A number one d man plays penalty kill, power play, and dominates 5 on 5. They are all situation guys. There might be 10 in the league at any given time.

Well this is just semantics, isn't it?

He's a good 5on5 player and great on the powerplay - I'll never understand why this is looked down upon. He's basically a reverse Carlo, but he's better at 5on5 and WAY better on the PP thank Carlo on PK. You love Carlo, don't you? And with that, it only makes more sense having two guys who fill different roles on the team

You think Krug is better 5 on 5 than Carlo?

I think that Carlo had a very good season, and would probably give it to him this year, but I wouldn't be prepared to say he'll be better 5on5 next season yet

Gotcha. We have nothing more to discuss when it comes to hockey. Cheers, enjoy the final.

when i was younger, if someone tried to tell me that 2+2=5, I would try to show them how it was actually 4. Now, I just say cheers, have a nice day, and save my energy.

Cheers, enjoy the final!

But sometimes you're wrong, right? I think it's always worth giving people a listen, give them a chance to motivate their thoughts. If they argue with logical fallacies as in 2+2 = 5, fine, but if it's about what you value in terms of playstyle, then there's surely room to learn for everyone involved?

Have a good one, let's go Bruins!
