12.5 for Taylor Hall? A career IR guy. I sure hope this isn't the case. Also, that Laine trade, Edmonton cannot say yes quick enough. They are trading scraps for premium steak!

It makes sense for both sides.

Edmonton gets a winger that could score 60+ goals with McDavid on his wing. Winnipeg gets a solid top 4 LHD that is under team control

Trading a TOP5 sniper in the world for a 2nd pair d-man? Should be pretty obvious...

LOL since when is Laine a top 5 sniper?

He could reach that if he develops perfectly (unlikely), but he sure as hell ain't that right now

Well since the beginning of his career he's 6th in goals in the entire league. Tavares is 3rd, only 2 goals more than him. He definitely is a TOP5 sniper, and that's also statistically correct.

Really? You seriously want me to answer that? You really think he is a quality defenceman?

first of all, a trade with Laine to Edmonton would start with Draisaitl and then add on from there. But don't include Klefbom or a 5th or Chevy will be hanging up really quick. I have never even heard anything about Tyler Benson being an elite talent.

Laine is a gamble right now. Klefbom isn't.

It's a good trade for the Jets.

Why do people not understand that without his shot, Laine is a below replacement level NHL player? He has horrid everything besides his shot.

Laine has had 36, 44 and 30 goal seasons. His first 3 seasons in the league. He had 18 by the end of Nov last year and then had a back injury that plagued him for most of the remainder of the year. Ya, I would say he is a top 5 sniper.

The shot is pretty important skill, you know. Also he's still developing his game. He's only 21 years old.

Ok no. Edmonton isn't giving up Draisaitl for Laine, that wouldn't help them at all.

Klefbom would be a perfect 1st or 2nd LHD for the Jets. He's not great offensively, but he's good defensively, he'd be a stabilizing presence for the 2nd pair

You do realize he lives off the PP? 30 goals this year, 15 came on the PP, 44 last year, 20 came on the PP. His rookie season, he was good, but hasn't been near that ever since.

If he's a top 5 sniper, he should be able to score 5v5 too, which, as shown, he can't do that well

You are all over this thread. In one post you put that Laine has the potential to be a 60+ goal scorer with McDavid. In another you say he is not a top 5 sniper and is a gamble. But trading him for a subpar 2nd probably 3rd pairing dman with no upswing is fair? Then you say Edmonton isn't giving up Draisaitl for Laine because that wouldn't help them. Please tell me how Klefbom, Benson and a 5th round pick that probably doesn't reach the NHL for Laine ( A potential 60+ goal score - your words) makes the Jets better?

Laine is the definition of a one-dimensional player.

Yes, he has a great shot, but he can't utilize it unless his teammates set him up for it.

He also sucks at everything else.

Laine can be a 60 goal scorer [if he develops correctly (a huge if)] with McDavid. It's Connor *ucking McDavid, the same guy who made Alex Chiasson a 20 goal scorer.

Klefbom isn't a 3rd pairing D-man he just isn't. He's a solid top 4 LHD that's above average defensively.

The trade I made with Edmonton here makes the Jets better because they get a great top 4 LHD (a position where they have a shortage) for a potential top 6 winger (a position where they have a surplus). The Jets were one of the worst teams defensively this past year, and getting a top 4 LHD that's proven to be good defensively should help them get better defensively.

I don't think you understand that a trade doesn't have to have a winner or loser, it can be beneficial for both teams like the scenario that I've created here

Since when is Oscar mf'ing Klefbom a third pairing dman? He's a borderline 1LD on an amazing contract who will be good for years. Get your head out of your arse.

Using a crappy joke to direct the conversation away from the point at hand because he's clearly wrong. Outstanding move!
