Why in the eff would Leafs want Phaneuf?

Well seeing phaneuf at 1RD has just ruined my whole day. I may never eat again.

You're not seriously thinking of putting him out on the ice, are you? I had to watch him try to teach Paul LaDue how to catch up to the puck 82 games last year.

ok well he isnt great but if we move zaitsev we need a replacement if they are to take marleau for the year they get rid of cap space next year and move 3.5 mill off the books. phaneuf has way better corsi stats than zaitsev and at a mill and a half less with better statistics and only for another year vs 5 years it isnt a horrible idea.
