Description
Trade to get prospects and picks for next draft allowing us to pay offer sheet compensation and still draft in 2020. Pressure Tampa by either getting Point or putting them in cap hit pit of misery. In which case we will offer to take Callahan for their 2022 first and second overall picks. Also, added right handed forwards which in my useless opinion we need. D still young but they will develop hopefully haha.

Offer sheet - no, ever.

Finally, I wouldn't want Point as a free agent for that price, I think he is going to be one of the biggest over-payments in NHL history, as his numbers have been INSANELY inflated by the talent around him, he's more likely a career 40pt a year player, which still has value, but he is not an elite, franchise player... also, there's ZERO chance Tampa wouldn't match that, not to mention the fact that he's looking for a contract in the 9m range, so he wouldn't even sign it...

You’re probably right that he is overrated. However Tampa can’t match that price. They need 5 contracts for a 23 man roster with only 8.5 mill projected cap space... if Point is signed to Tampa for 7.7 how will they sign 4 more guys with only 800 000 in space?

They'd match first, deal with fallout second, even if it meant matching his contract and then immediately trading him to another team, for a better haul...
