man I Love EKs wife

Created by: MTLaveragefan
Team: 2019-20 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 4, 2019
Published: Jun. 4, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
get EK's rights to give him 8 years at a lower cap... but still more money than what Melnyk was ready to offer.

10*7 = 70M
9*8 = 72M

we get Karlsson at a slightly higher cap than Subban (that's what he wanted... but I'm hoping that his playoff defensive performance has reduced his value to 9.6M on 8 years

- I doubts EK65 wants to go back into that rotten ship (that is, also, on fire) that is Ottawa.

You need to be on the roster before the trade deadline to get 8 years, so you can only sign him to 7. Same with Hayes going to Philly, they can only offer him 7 years at most.

Here's the thing - Karlsson was very injured during those playoffs, anyone watching could tell. He still broke assist records. I think people around the league know how good he is.

By saying 72m over 8 years is better than 70 over 7 you're assuming he wouldn't get a one year contract worth 2m or more his age 35 season. Assuming his groin and foot holds I'd assume he's worth 4-5m / year as a 35 year old without issue. Look at Giordano and Keith at 35, or even Suter and Burns at 34, none of those players have come close to Karlsson's peak in my opinion, and even if you think they are I believe you'd agree that most of them are worth not only 2m, but 4-5m at the very least. Burns and Giordano are probably still top 10 defensemen

I understand what you mean, but I made a comment for Burns...

It comes down to 9.6M assured or maybe 5M at 35... **** happens in a career. You are better off taking the guaranteed money. Also... it might mean moving after your contract has expired.

Well not really, it's only 2m more assured since he'd be making 10 x 7 otherwise

"man I Love EKs wife." Gee, I know she's a Habs fan but can't she just get NHL Network and watch the Habs games instead of moving to Montreal.
I know folks look at at the great Karlsson in previous seasons. But the last two he hasn't been so great. Is that the new trend? 7 years and a big cap...risky IMO.

It's about being closer to home, I thinks she was born in the Ottawa region.

nope, his game is based on speed... and that's the first thing to go when you get older.

but he is 28, so theres a good 4-5 years of being clutch -IF his ankle/heel fully heals

I read the title and decided to respond the title, the first was a mistake. I googled Karlsson wife and got the blonde and did not notice the Coyote in the background.
I found the second with Karlsson. I am presuming the second is his wife since 2017.
