I think those trades are realistic, but it's just a shot in the dark. The VGK trade could happen because they already bust the cap. So they get younger, they upgrade their 1st pick and save over 5 millions they may use for William Karlsson.
Tatar-Leddy is because we have too many wingers and no good LD, and NYI will need signed wingers because they have problems keeping their own players. MTL could add a 2nd pick since they have 2 this summer.
Colorado has many good young players, but not enough depth for their 2nd-3rd line, and this trade would solve this. If you think the pick is too high, then I don't mind adding VGK 1st or a 2nd we have.
1st line compared to last year:
Marchessault is better than Tatar, so the line is better too. All players in their prime.
2nd line:
Drouin, KK and Domi are about the same as Drouin, Domi and Shaw, KK needs more minutes and more responsabilities, which he'll get climbing on the 2nd line.
3rd line:
While I really liked last year Lehkonen-KK-Armia, I think Lehkonen would benefit playing with more offensive player, like Poehling and Suzuki.
4th line:
Well, this line is not better than last year, but I don't like seeing too talented guys like Lehkonen, Byron, Armia, Shaw, Suzuki, Poehling, ... on the 4th line. I think Weal and Thompson are in their place and can find an identity.
Substitutes:
Peca - Weise - Evans - Vejdemo
1st pair:
Theodore - Weber is a good 1st pair for still a couple of years.
2nd pair:
Leddy - Petry are excellent 2nd pair defensemen.
3rd pair:
Kulak - Juulsen can do the job.
Subs:
If Kulak or Juulsen have problems, the best of Alzner, Folin, Leskinen, Brook, Fleury, Ouellet or Lernout will do the job.
Price - Lindgren
We improve our draft, so I suggest we draft the best defense, like Byram to make sure our 2025-after-Weber defensive situation is OK.
I think you exagerate, but ok, let's see what can be done.
If we take out the 1st pick of VGK, would it be ok? I repeat, Las Vegas is ALREADY over the cap, and William Karlsson isn't signed. So actually, this trade helps them to sign him, which is not nothing. They also get younger. Believe me, Mete will play in the NHL for a long time. Without injury, Byron would have made three 20 goals seasons in a row.
And if we add a 2nd pick or two 2nd picks in the Colorado trade, does this work? The players given in this trade are good. In a complete, no-injury season, Shaw could have made 61 points. Armia is 6'4'', is good defensively, is on a good contract and was on a 19 goals pace. The two players just enter their prime period.
