Ericsson waives to Ottawa for what reason? Montreal takes on an unnecessary 3rd line expensive centre for what reason? Leafs match any second round compensation.

Eriksson has claimed that he doesn't get 100% trust from the coach Travis Green, so he might be open for a trade if it means more ice time for him. Then again, why would OTT take him? Best course of action for them is to get someone with high cap, place him on IR and play with the young guys...

There are some LTIR that Ottawa could obtain if they "need to hit the floor" as you suggest. I kinda think Ottawa has to pick up a few veterans to help transition their young players. So who ever these veterans are, they have to willing to go into the Ottawa "situation". willingly. Don't know if Ericsson is the guy. But is are players like Perrrault or Kullivov possibly Jets cap dump viable alternatives. There are other teams. with cap issues who would be willing to give Ottawa a cap heavy veteran. Just think Ottawa can be choosey on who these players are. Guys might be on their last contract one or two years left and are likely to be on a non playoff team. Need players with the right mentality to be in that situation. I'm one guy who is rather optimistic about the Senators long term. A good base may be forming.

Yeah, if OTT doesn't get any results from this insane rebuild...man the backlash in that organisation is going to be absolutely detrimental. Possibly the end of the organisation as we know it...

Eriksson's cap would still be 6mill but OTT would only pay 1mill.. that's a nice price for 30pts. Also ice time would be a big one for Loui. Also, with Stone, Duchene, and Dzingel gone OTT can't just go with the young guys and torch their confidence, they need some legit NHL talent on the ice

MTL has trash C depth and needs someone who knows how to play D at the position.

Leafs can barely afford that price for Kapanen.. there's a chance they'd cut their losses

1 mill for this year, and then $4M a season for the remaining two years. Melnyk is not paying that much for a 30-point player...

Leafs can probably trade one year of 6.25m Marleau easier than the Canucks can trade 6m X 3 years Ericsson. I know folks rag of the Leafs cap problems but they do have tradable pieces and don't have to give away players unless they want to.
