If Kreider is extended then he is worth way more than that especially paired with Pionk

Its not that, at that point he is not a rental he has term therefore increasing his value

you're getting a 1st from a team that is more likely to miss the playoff then enter it and a talented young RH winger with size and speed (he's not a bust) and you're saying Kreider is worth "way more"

No what I'm saying is that it wouldn't be that hard for them to sneak into the playoffs when you give McDavid a winger who can not only keep up with him, but can also shoot the puck whose name is not Leon . So if you wanted Kreider I think you would have to trade you 1st Round pick from this year not next year. And Puljujärvi is honestly hit or miss on him being a top 6 winger who carries very little trade value

those who think Kreider is worth the #8 are delusional. Puljujärvi is 21 coming of injuries and was rushed into the NHL lineup in EDM, lots of development time left and NYR are much better team for him then EDM

Trading for a rental vs trading for a player with term are two completely different offers. The one you suggested would be fine for the trade deadline with no term remaining because he would be in all aspects a rental, but in your case he is someone who will be in Edmonton for years

trading Kreider at the deadline will get you a playoff 1st, you're more or less guaranteed picking between 20-31, trading him during the summer allows bubble team or team desperate to make the playoff to make a push for him and since EDM is far from being a playoff team even with Kreider that 1st can be anything between 8-20, heck it's Edmonton it could very well be a top 10 pick and don't tell me you would't want two top 10 picks in the 2020 draft cause NYR will highly likely draft top 10 with their own pick too
