Back to the signing. Good depth signing at low risk as it's only a 1 year contract. 3rd pairing guy and depth is what most teams look for wink good signing in Dallas!!

As far as the contract itself, that's what you'd expect for a 3rd pair RD, but man, I do not see how this guy keeps getting signed. He's not very good.

he keeps getting signed because he's a physical player willing to do the grunt work of being a defense man. That's what it boils down to. I like him as a depth guy, 7th man, put him in when you need to be a bit heavier in the game. Something teams like to add in the playoffs. Not only will he hit people, but he's 6'2 240 lbs and he'll scrap it up with you if you aren't careful.
So yeah, he's not winning any award for being the most skilled guy on the ice. But winning in the playoffs isn't always about being the most skilled. It's about taking care of things and doing what needs to be done. And he's a willing player at that.

Today I learned that Roman Polak has never posted a positive Relative Corsi rating since becoming a full-time NHL'er. In 2008.
