It's the minimum he could've signed for. He put up 25 points and will be an UFA next year. Can't say I like this deal too much.

I voted yes since the money is a steal, but then I noticed he’s UFA next year. Bad decision for Dallas.

I think what he loses on this deal, he’ll more than make up for it as a UFA next year.

He will end up out of the NHL unless he has a spectacular year

3rd/4th liner in the NHL and depth signing. Now a UFA next summer which I'm sure he is happy about with his agent. Needs a big year next season to probably stay in the NHL.

where do you people get this rubbish?
Do you have any idea how hard it is to find people who can play defense even remotely well?
There were people who finished a -47 last year. By like every fault of their own. But this guy who is continuing to grow as a defense man is going to have a hard time making it in the NHL next year. That's ridiculous. They should have tried to sign him for a longer term.

Not that hard. There are tons of guys whose main focus is defense before offense. He accepted a one year deal because next year he is going to be an UFA. If he doesn't have a good good year, Dallas isn't going to resign him. High chance he goes back to Europe if he doesn't

Also, he was a (-) player. Tied for the 7th worse +/- on the team.

Should've offered a multi year deal. I'm thinking 3 years at $6M total would have been better for DAL. He's only 26. He can still improve.

his stats really aren't that bad. His xGF is a 44.4 his xGA is a 42.3 with a E+/- of 2.
He's a 48.8 corsi even though he starts 57.1% of his time in the Dzone.
He's not nearly as bad as you make him out to be. He's an NHL level player. Clearly he bet on himself this year. But not because he'll be "going back to Europe" any time soon. He'll easily be playing in the NHL again next year if he has the same kind of year this year as he did last.

None of those stats a particularly good. Pretty much sums up that he's really a 3rd line center.

Great speed, decent defensively. Good depth signing on the cheap.
